Someone posts a question about a non working flashlight and gets all kinds of advice on how to fix it but never posts back to tell the outcome of the advice.

I think it's just courtesy to let the other posters know how things worked out but that's just me. :whistle:

Hehe yeah, I hear ya there. I think that in many of those cases, the people just join and post to get some how-to advice and then drop off CPF completely.

Maybe in some cases it's one of those "Doh" moments, where all it takes is a little cleaning, and the poster feels a wee bit embarrassed. I think this happened to me before.
