Seeing this thread took me by surprise, even though I had heard some time ago that he was fighting cancer.

I absolutely loved Dio when I was in high school - Holy Diver / The Last in Line era.

What a horrible thing to hear.

Oh man, I saw DIO in Reno, NV when I was about 12 years old. Last in Line tour. The world was never quite the same after that.

The D loved Dio so much that they had a homage' song for him on the first album. Sidebar- Meatloaf was in the same aforementioned film.
