I won't attempt to answer all of those, but interestingly (at least I think so), the only flashlight related arguments I have with my partner are about which she gets to use. I have found the perfect woman! :D

Did your parents use flashlights ? Do your siblings have numerous flashlights?

No, my parents have only the flashlights I gave them.

Do you argue with your spouse over flashlights? Does he/she think you have excessive flashlights?

Of course! But, she knows I'm a geek, I only throw my private money out of the window (her words).

Do flashlights affect your work? Do you think about flashlights at work? Have flashlights ever interfered with your work?

I'm on CPF all the time at work. That interferes, but not the lights themselves, they are at home and yes, I think of them, but also about our Maine Coons.

Have you ever experienced a blackout after using a flashlight? Do you wake up thinking about flashlights?

A blackout after using a flashlight? The times I drank far too much I had blackouts, but not from flashlights. I often wake up and think of the light(s) that could arrive that day. That makes me feel less miserable after waking up, there's a sense in the day.

Do you have more flashlights than normal? Do you worry about your flashlights? Do you spend too much money on flashlights?

What is normal today? Let's say, I have more flashlights than normal for a CPFer... I do worry about them, I always worry about my things. I have cells (rechargeables) in each of them and sometimes I think what would happen when one would light up while I am sleeping or at work. I also worry if I have perhaps overtightened a light, overlubed a light, that it could fall when I use it, that it could render its soul just like that. I also worry about my uncountable trits, how they will look like in 10 years and what I shall do then.

Too much money? Well, I spend all my savings and spend actually each month a little more than I have that month. I know I must change it, but at the end of the months, it was just too much...

Do the neighbors talk about your flashlights? Do you take flashlights to social events?

My neighbours don't know anything about me, I tend to keep everything private. Surely they saw me playing with lights, but a non-flashaholic won't even notice that it isn't the same light each time, if they do, they think you have 2 or 3 lights.

When we go out in the evening, I take one single ligh with me, but i don't ever go to "social events" where there are lots of people.

Good Lord, I'm a mess . . . . . .

Who's that Lord? I'm worse! I'm sick and I know it, I was before flashlights and flashlights don't affect my physical health

A lot of the flashlighting I do is where there is no other light; generally due to no power in an area.

Do you argue with your spouse over flashlights? Does he/she think you have excessive flashlights? no. but thats likely only cuz i dont have one. :)

Do you think about flashlights at work? yeah. but only when i am using them, needing one or during brake.

Have flashlights ever interfered with your work? like getting caught on something and making me loose my balance and dropping the item im carrying.. i think then.. yes.

Have you ever experienced a blackout after using a flashlight? errmm? dont understand this one.. been in building during a blackout and using my edc. yes.

Do you wake up thinking about flashlights? no my first thoughts are normally just angry grumbling about why i have to wake up.. but occasionally i have thought after 20-30minutes after i get up (when i start to feel less of caveman and think on my own brains..) if i ordered any previous night.. or if there is something in the mailbox waiting for me.

Do you have more flashlights than normal?

what is normal? 3? yes i have 10 times that.

Do you worry about your flashlights? rarely. they are tools. (only when i think i have mispaced them or havent checked their battery and function in few weeks)

Do you spend too much money on flashlights? yes. well. not more than i have afford to. i think. too much in long run.

Do the neighbors talk about your flashlights? i think some atleast have noticed some of the times i do some beam tests. somy guess: maybe.

Do you take flashlights to social events? not all of them. only the ones i want to show off or carry as edc anyways.

Good Lord, I'm a mess . . i believe that might be correct sir. but you are in good company.

Did your parents use flashlights? Yes. Just the usual el cheapo 2 D-cell jobs, and those little square AA airline lights they had in the '70s. I got my Dad a Mini Mag years ago, and that was considered "state of the art" at the time. lol

Do your siblings have numerous flashlights? No. She'd be lucky to have one on her, out in the middle of nowhere.

Do you argue with your spouse over flashlights? No. Unless I suggest getting her one (more).

Does he/she think you have excessive flashlights? Yes. It was excessive after I had one.

Do flashlights affect your work? Adversely? No. Ever try to clear a dark abandoned building without one? Don't.

Do you think about flashlights at work? Well, I'm at work now, waiting for a phone call, a fax, and then tech to tell me why my e-mail won't work. I've got to think about something for the next ten minutes.

Have flashlights ever interfered with your work? No.

Have you ever experienced a blackout after using a flashlight? No, but I've been caught in a couple without a flashlght. Again, don't.

Do you wake up thinking about flashlights? No. And this is a family centered forum, so I can't tell you what I'm usually thinking about when I wake up. :D

Do you have more flashlights than normal? I don't know how many flashlights are in Normal. Probably, alot.

Do you worry about your flashlights? No.

Do you spend too much money on flashlights? Too much money per flashlight for quality received? No. Too much money in the aggregage. Yeah, you've got me on that one.

Do the neighbors talk about your flashlights? Not that I've noticed. Then again, my neighbors for some reason don't talk to me much anymore....

Do you take flashlights to social events? Hmmm. I take all sorts of things that would raise eyebrows to social events.

That's funny - those are some of the same questions my counselor asked in in my therapy sessions.

A little bit tongue-in-cheek, but that is, I think, the point. :)

On a serious note, these questions are actually good things to think about.
Just about anyting can be addictive, I suppose depending on the person and situation: drugs, alcohol, sex, porn, gambling, food, spending, partying, thrill-seeking, collecting... anything. Why not flashlights?

Does he/she think you have excessive flashlights? NO, my wife is truly a gem! (She's also a pack rat with much more unwieldy stuff than flashlights, so she knows better than to go there :)

Do flashlights affect your work? Not really, though a recent shipment of warm white Quarks did distract for a time.

Do you think about flashlights at work? YES (I'm on CPF right now during a software restart)

Have flashlights ever interfered with your work? NO

Do the neighbors talk about your flashlights? Not likely, though they may have been atwitter over my recent electric scooter tests

Do you take flashlights to social events? YES. You can carry around something to light things up, or carry around something to light things on fire, but nobody cares if you carry a lighter to a party -- so what's the big deal with a flashlight?

Have you ever experienced a blackout after using a flashlight?
Are you referring to unconsciousness or interrupted electrical power? If the former, how do you think people use them? If the latter, how would a power cut be caused by using a torch?
