hi all,

new guy here. i just got a Solarforce L2 and L2M.
the L2 works fine, but i have an issue with the L2M.
I think i know the problem, but want to make sure.
the drop-in for the L2M is the blue R2 rated at 3V-18V.
I bought this as a complete light from ITC.
should it have the green one rated for .8V-4.2V?

What batteries do you use?
If you use just one primary cr123 the 3-18V dpropin might not work.
You could try 2 cr123 in the l2m+extention, then it should work.

Which dropin do you have in your l2?

Yep , a lot of the Solarforce drop ins just dont run on a Primary cell ..
You deff want the low voltage drop in , 0.8v - 4.2v if you want to run Primaries .

Nice choice on budget host, if you'd like to wring every last drop of "juice" out of those lithium primary cells you might want to check out our "DIY battery vampire" thread HERE

Yeah, from reading CPF & my limited experience (one unit), it seems as though the SolarForces pretty much always ship with the high-voltage unit unless you work with a dealer (such as here on CPF, Jake25 or something) to obtain a low-voltage drop-in instead. A shame really, the low-voltage unit performs far better (~2x the output) on a single 3.7v LiIon than the high-voltage unit.

Using 1xRCR123, Li-Ion 4.2V battery you should get direct drive for about 2 hours of dimming light with your L2m. 1xCR123 will not light up the dropin

A .8-4.2V dropin is definitely a better performer in the L2m.

Are any USA dealers currently selling the L2m in SAND color? I tried my usual Solarforce dealers with no luck but I'm not interested in ordering from China.

Are you "Quack" from the gun forums?

Yes, you will need a rechargable 123. They put out a higher voltage. I learned the hard way on this about a year ago as well.

I have one set of AW brand 123s - but now I just use the solarforce brand. I also use an Ultrafire charger with spacers. I can charge 2 at a time much faster than the cheap Nano charger I previously was using.
