Eagletac P20C2. 300 lumens out the front, and can get it for under 62 bucks at lightjunction.com. Decent throw, with a nice wide spill.

+1 For the P20C2 Mk II

Wall of light, nice build and has drop in module for possible future updates or neutral/warm tints.

I almost forgot but get the textured reflector for a nice clean beam.

If it's for a bike, this is perfect http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.29489

There are many folk here on CPF (myself included) who love this light. It's got a very bright, very floody beam with a very small form factor. The head is little larger than a golf ball and the battery pack sits under your stem.

It's about as bright as a car headlight and burns for hours on max.

So we have well built 200ish lumen lights, or deal extreme lights which are powerful but no warranty or customer support.

Heres my middle of the road options:

itp A6 Polestar - 6xAA, rated at 700 lumens (probably 450-500 OTF). Big wide flood beam. 80 bucks, minus discounts. Maybe a bit big for a bike though. 5 modes.

The brand new MG P-Rocket. Small size, 700 to 800 lumens rated. 3 brightness levels so it should cover you nicely.
