Tec-40 & 32 5mm\'s

Check out this mod:

Very nice!!! I can't read Japanese so I had babelfish translate it for me. The pictures pretty much tell the story though. A resistor to bring the 6v down to a manageable level (I believe) and a nice, tight array of 5mm Nichia's. I'd guess that, if driven at 20ma per Nichia, the whole thing draws about 640ma? Is this a DIY KL2? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I don't suppose the author reads this forum does he?

Re: Tec-40 & 32 5mm\'s

I'd think it'd be fairly bright... I've always wanted to try a mod with a massive array of 5mm's driven by one of the Bad Boy 700 or 750 boards. I know the Luxeons are a better choice, but there's just something about all of those Nichias lined up. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thermal management /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif

If driven at 20 mA/LED. OK if significantly undriven.
