I would like to know how candlepower, foot candles, candela, mcd, and lumens coorelate to each other. I don't get it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

stephen>some of those do and some do not correlate at all. Lumens is the amount of photons being put out. Candlepower is the brightest point in the beam. All else being equal, the wider the beam the lower the Candlepower but the Lumen count remains the same. There is just as much light being produced but it is not as concentrated.

candlepower = candela = cd

m = milli = 10^3 = 0.001 so 15,ooo mcd = 15 candlepower

foot candles = cd/f^2
lumens = cd/m^2
