I'm thinking about getting another torch, and have been looking at the Fenix TK40 and TK45

Who has the best price with or without a disount code?

Also, can anyone recommend a comparable flashlight that runs on AA batts and has the equivalent lumens-

Thanks-

There really are no comparable lights to the TK40 and TK45 that operate on AA batteries as far as performance and build quality are concerned. The closest things that I can think of are the iTP A6 and the Sunwayled M40A as both are very powerful lights powered by AA batteries. Note that I haven't had the chance to hold an M40A yet so I'm not sure how it compares to my TK40.

Edit: The cheapest place that I can find both the TK40 and TK45 is at Camp Smarter.

Note that the TK45 is very new on the market so there isn't a lot of comparison shopping available yet. It also is not in stock at the moment at Camp Smarter.

If you want a true "Monster LED" get the Olight SR-90. It is an absolute Beast! Makes all the other monsters look like gremlins, by comparison....

Hehe, sure for that price the Olight SR-90 had *better* be all that and more! :D The original poster was looking for AA powered lights, hence I didn't mention the SR-90.

If this thread is really going to go that monster route, I'd suggest getting an HID spotlight like I did for $90 and pocketing the additional $300+ that the SR-90 would have cost or using it to buy more flashlights. An HID spotlight probably won't out throw an SR-90, but when it comes to throw distance versus dollars, it cannot be beat.

I'm certainly not knocking the SR-90 as it is an extremely nice light, but when dollars are factored into the equation and let's be honest, in this present economy and job market they *always* must be considered, it's just not all that cost effective...to me anyway. As always your mileage may vary. :)

FWIW... any HID that out-throws the Stanley 35W will out-throw the SR-90. The center hot spot of the Stanley out throws the SR-90 but just a bit.

When I posted the above information, Camp Smarter had very low prices for both the TK40 and the TK45. They were in the $130 - $135 price range. Now I notice that they are back up to the $150 range on their website with some mention that "MAP pricing" is in effect. I sure hope that Camp Smarter honors the lower prices in case any one ordered earlier before the prices went up.
