I have a killer mod in mind but running out of fund to gather parts,
so here goes my beloved SS SST-50 EDC, I made this a while ago & have not been able to let it go. It's been a shelf queen.

This is modder's personal EDC. Very unique blend of raw Power with long run time,
there's simply not another light can touch him for it's size on CPF.

Started from a stainless steel host that runs on 18650, I cut the light into two pieces, bored out one end, then shortened & grind down the other joint. It's very very hard to work on stainless steel body!

The shortened two pieces of body was then joint together by press-fit,
followed my JB weld to make perminant short body. The connection is nearly invisible as it's tucked away by body line.

It runs on 1x18350 Direct Drive, crazy bright EDC.
Why 18350? Because 18350 can push SST-50 as hard as IMR 123
but has about twice the capacity of the IMR.

The Bin is extreme top BIN Neutral Tint 57K, GJ200.
The beam on white wall is just perfect! NO flows!

Size wise, it's about the same as Mac's SST-50 EDC,
but look at the battery size difference!

Amazingly, my custom EDC actually has smaller diameter:

Beam shot vs. Mac's 2.8Amp EDC on high.
The Stainless EDC in left & Mac's EDC running on IMR123 on hight:
The tint of this SS EDC is just beautiful, no blue, just creamy white!
The stainless EDC has no flows in beam, solid core in the center of the spot.
Mac's EDC 65K is a bit blue & had a small faint donut in the center,
(this was sold as a second, Mac's EDC was sold last time I needed fund.)

Left. Stainless SST-50 18350 LI-ion, Right mac's EDC on high/IMR 123.

It'll Run very hot, so make sure to hold it in your hand & turn it off when it gets too hot to hold.

Last, the tail end. I drilled two small holes & mounted Nitecore EX10 clip with brass nuts:
Had to get two special carbide drill bits ($10 each) & broke both of them while drilling on SS body.

Asking $149. USA Only.
PP goods add $10 for Fee/Shipping/Insurance.
PP Personal, add $5 for Shipping/insurance.

Include one 18350 Li-ion battery (About 30% more capacity than Li-ion 123, can be driven around 3 AMP and has about 2x capacity than IMR 123).

Not convinced about this battery? See this light here:

I think the 18350 is a very underrated battery.

Only the other day I ordered some to run 3 in an M1X, to get full regulation and good runtime without using an extender.

It's a shame I'm over here on the other side of the pacific.

As it is DD and has only 1 mode, how long would it take before it gets 'hot' to the point that you should turn it off?

How would you describe the beam, floody or throw with great hotspot?

Glad it arrived safely. Always a bit worried about int. shipping.

Let us know how you like the beam, don't turn on & leave it on table,
hold it in your hand at all times when on, don't let it burn your hand thou., as it will

Touch wood, I've never had any issues with international postage.

The beam reminds me a lot of my old SST-90 P60 module. My only other SST-50 is in a Raidfire Spear, so it has a very defined hotspot. This is very floody, and I love it.

I've noticed on a fully charged battery it starts to get hot in only 10 secs. I haven't had it on long enough to see just how hot I'm sure it will get.

I'm thinking of getting it bead blasted to give it a nice matte finish. How do you think the JB weld in the join will hold up?
