What is your \"ideal\" flashlight?

It seems that most people (myself included) would like something with specs similar to this:

- Bright as the sun. Literally.

- "Staged" so that you can get it as dim as a firefly for tacticality.

- Never needs batteries.

- Waterproof to 15,000 ft.

- Same size as an Arc AAA, maybe the size of a CMG-Ultra or X5T, maybe smaller than an AAA for some people.

- Rugged enough to withstand a direct hit from a nuclear warhead.

That about covers it. Did I miss anything??? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Seriously, what would your "ideal" light be? (Other than what I spec'ed out above? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif )

I meant it as a joke...a play on the word "Tactical."

My ideal flashlight is usually the last one i bought, and this month, its a Surefire M2 with KL3. 4Hrs+ per set of batteries = guilt-free fun.

- The size of an E2E-H$, but with type VI anodizing.

- Lifetime LED, digitally controlled.

- Clickie tailcap (Z100).

- Selectable brightness levels by rotation of tailcap to desired level indicator. (25 lumens, 50 lumens, 100 lumens, 150 lumens, 200 lumens, 250 lumens and 500 lumens)

- Adjustable focus.

- Available in assorted colors, including 'Passion Grape' (TM).

- Retail for all this should be around $75, with the infinitely adjustable brightness model arriving sometime next year!

Re: What is your

Heh, a little change here and there:

- Bright as a supernova...

- "Staged" so that you can get it as dim as starlight...

- Never needs batteries...

- Waterproof to the bottom of the Mariana Trench...

- Same size as an Arc AAA, maybe the size of a CMG-Ultra or X5T, maybe smaller than an AAA for some people. The size of a Photon would be nice...

- Rugged enough to withstand a pull into a black hole and a direct firing into the center of a hypernova...

- Chemically/biologically inert and indestructible...

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

But more sanely (I think /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif ) something about the size of a M6 that can dim down to almost nothing, but is based on a quick strike HID that can maybe produce 10,000 lumens and focus to a Maxabeam's beam, and a few hours runtime, would be nice...

The size of an SF E2, with a dimmer switch that allows you to go from "barely there" light, up to the output of a McCulloch x990. Bright, white light with a three-hour runtime on highest setting. All for $25.00.
