Any suggested tools for making better reviews of light output?

Have seen a few candle meters on ebay but usually they are spendy.

Check out some of the sphere's that capture all of the light and not just one fixed point of the beam. Total output is lumens and one spot measured is lux.

I do not think I want to measure total light, but light at the same height from 10, 25, 25 feet away at the same height of the lantern.

The link also does not discuss if you think you are going to be even more accurate with a sphere, what about measuring the dispersion area?
