I'm trying to use some stuff from the parts bin and this seems to be a promising combo. The P7 will be soldered directly to the sink. I'm looking for some specific guidance on the modifications needed to focus the reflector.

If anything the hole in the reflector needs to be opened up....maybe.
The P7 works GREAT with the McR38.

Yep, it needs to be opened slightly to clear the dome and sit on the plastic part of the emitter. Are you suggesting that it needs to go below the level of the plastic? How much?

No, the hole just needs to be opened up just enough to allow the dome to clear...not the entire plastic base.
The reflector will sit ON the base.
Hope that makes sense...:p

Yes, very clear. Thank you. I thought it would have to be cut down in order to focus. I'm glad it doesn't.

Thanks for the info. I assume a void is a dark spot in the beam. Can the reflector be focused to eliminate it?
