Hi all,

Kevin from Lambdalights sent me a cool light. It might or might not be offered to the public, but it uses a cool CBT-90 65K tint.

Things about the CBT-90:
  • Its essentially a SST-90, but domeFree from the factory
  • uses a copper star that looks 50% taller the the aluminum SSR-90 one
  • It naturally has a throw type beam that should do 90k plus lux at 1m. I still have to test this.
The Frankenlight:
  • A 2in Copper slug heatsink was used
  • The 3D Mag was extended to accomodate the huge heatsink
  • Still uses the VARA2000 control knob
  • The cells go backwards
  • The light is heavy, but most spot lights are and the added weight still makes a featherweight compared to the less bright SST-90 searchlights in its category like the SR90 at 1480 OTF and 95k lux.
Here are pictures of it, but I still have to wait for night time to do beamshoots.

So is this OTF numbers for the SST-90 light or the CBT-90 light? I'm guessing it's the CBT-90, and you accidentally made a typo? If so, the lumens aren't much higher than the SST-90 copper version at 1 sec, and it actually makes less OTF than the SST-90 copper version made before it reaches the 30 second mark. The CBT-90 must be an inefficient emitter.

correct, I meant to put CBT-90:wave:

The Domeless SST type emitters make considerably less OTF numbers when I dedome them, but this one makes just about the same as the domed counterpart.

I get 3,900 lux at 5 meters.

It is 97,500 lux at 1M:party::party::party::party:

So, its nearly 1000 more OTF lumens then the SR90, lighter, alot less expensive, and more throw. I think this VARAPower Frankenlight should be made for the public cause its a good searchlight.

I will try and get beamshoots soon.
