I'm sitting watching World Poker Tour on Travel Channel. It's from France. I can barely stand to watch it! At least an Aussie is kicking the french butts so far!

I also play Yahoo Hold 'em a lot!

I also play for real when my Dads group needs someone!

I LIKE Poker!!!

Anyone else?

OH! FLASH! One Frenchie just got his clock cleaned by the Aussie!!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Poker used to be a vice of mine. lol Mainly 7/5 card stud. I've been watching the "World Series of Poker" on ESPN which is fun. The final is next Tuesday nite with $2.5 million going to the winner.

When I play with real cards it's 5 card stud with my brother (no money involved), but most of the time its through the Hoyle Casino computer game which I play TX hold 'em.

I used to play in a group that met monthly. We split up about ten years ago. But now every six months or so, one of the members returns to town, and that's reason to get the geezers back together again.

The stakes are nickle-dime-quarter -- what they were 30 years ago. That was a lot of money in those days. We still bitterly scrap to get that last nickle. It's hard to break old habits /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

When Dad and his buds play, we use primarily nickels, quarters, and halfs (chips) with 3 raises and .50 max bet.

Hardly ever play standard games. A fair bunch of wild stuff, and buy a card (or three) games.

PJS,

That's the kind of game we play, with the only exception that the limit is 25 cents. Did you ever play a game in which the pot is split three ways (high hand, low hand, and high spade in the hole)? It's an unusual game -- and not wise to stay in unless you have a good chance for 2/3 of the pot.

Paul, "High or Low Chicago" was name of the game we played when the high or low spade split the pot. We always played a two way split. Your version sounds pretty wild. lol

Most of our games are High-Low split. However should you get the wheel A-5 straight you can almost assuredly win both.

Sorriest game we played was no peak. Three cards face up, beat it, wild card, and kill card. You turn over 7 one at a time to beat the beat it card or previous player. Sad a$$ part of it, you could turn up a royal straight flush in 5 or 6 cards, than turn up the kill card as number 7.. ARGH!!!!

Anyone ever play "In Between"? Seemed like the losers at the end of the nite always wanted to play this. One could go from rich to poor real quick playing this game.

In Between. Is that sometimes called Acey-Duecey, where you can bet up to the level of the pot? The odds, although they look good to the bettor, are actually firmly against him. The pot sometimes builds and builds to a very large size. I remember games where the players were actually sweating profusely. I remember one, in particular, when the pot got up to over $1000 (converted to 2003 dollars). It can be a nasty game if you're on the losing end.

The European poker tour finals were on the Travel Channel earlier today. The last three remaning were a Frenchman, a guy from CA, and a Sweedish guy. Third place went to the American, Second to the French guy, and the winner was from Sweeden.

I love no-limit hold'em. I play with 6-10 guys every few weeks normally with a $20 to $30 buy in. It gets pretty addictive. I normally play http://www.pokerroom.com online when I get bored.

Deucey normally kills me. If you're lucky (which I am not) and you only play for a little while you can probably win, but I'd say if you play for a long time then you're pretty likely to take a licking. Don't play it too often, though--not a real skill game.
