I'm trying to build a circuit similar to the the ones used in the Xiphos NT light by blackhawk or the WX150 by insight. To my knowledge neither of these lights have any power switch, other than momentary. That suggests that the led driver, probably something similar to a modified 5 mode 7135, is always "ready on".

Does anyone know how long the batteries last in a light where there is constantly code being executed on the pic controller?

2nd question:
Is it easy to modify the 7135 to mimic the output of these lights? i would think you could create a mode group for high, strobe, then set another mode to be the "off" mode. Is this possible?
