Getting rid of donut hole in mag refl w/ XR-E R2

I have a mag with the rebel reflector(larger than the regular one) and I was trying to use it in conjunction with a XR-E R2 with the ez900 die. The problem is that there is a donut in the middle of the hot spot, so my question is whether there are any solutions to this?
Thanks

Try to swap the XR with a XP emitter. Alternatively you need to use an OP reflector. The donut hole is caused by the aluminum ring on the XR-E.

Is everyone getting the donut hole with the XR-E, or is it not necessarily something that has to be there?

I have this problem too. I'm waiting on a XP-G to swap into it, as per CampingLED's suggestion.

Sounds to me like the emitter is not correctly focused

You should be able to eliminate the "hole" by changing the height of the LED in the reflector.

That is what I would do as well

at what distance does the donut hole appear/dissappear? many LED lights have a donut hole up close but after a distance they vanish
