Ok I know. What a dumb question. But........ I can't seem to find the info. If candlepower = lumens does that mean that the more lumens there are the brighter the flashlight will be?

Candlepower is a measurement at the brightest most focused part of the light. Lumens is a measurement of the total light given off. So if you took a Mag light and measured the light output at half spot and then full the candle power would be different, whoever the Lumens would remain the same. You can not compare the two. Hope this helps.

lumens is the brightness of the bulb alone, and has nothing to do with how well focused the light is.

candlepower, is the measurement of brightness taken at the most focused spot of the beam, so basically with say....a 60 lumens lamp, the candlepower would be less if it was a flood type focus, and more if it was focused to a spot.
