Beam shots - hands up any one who wants to see some beamshots?

Ok, settle down at the back and pay attention.

The following beamshots were all taken with the camera set to the same ISO, aperture and shutter speed (1/2 sec) so they are directly comparable. Due to the rather long shutter duration some of them are not that sharp as the tripod left itself behind, for which it has been suitably reprimanded.

On a dark, dark night, in a Galaxy far, far away...

Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome our three contestants.

First up we have a Quark CR2:

Let's hear it for the CR2, a valiant effort from the little fella.

Next up is another mighty midget, a Quark AA mini running a 14500 under the hood:

Nice one AA. Lets hear it for our opening acts ladies and gentlemen.

The Quark Maelstrom needs no introductions, so lets get right down to business and see how he performs:

The Barely Carry - AKA the 150w, 14,000 lumen street light.

Yes, that really is a Jetbeam ST next to it. ;)

Get yourself a 12v car battery, an inverter, a rucksack, and you're good to go I reckon......about 150m before some discs start to get squished between vertebrae.

I would just like to take this opportunity to thank my trusty assistant, Igor....for his invaluable help with this evening of LED madness.

How much current does it draw? Could use a smaller (lighter!) 12v lead sealed batteries would save your back from being as damaged!

It looks like you're leaning back from the pressure on that fire hose of a light :)
