Anyone tried using a triple xpg star like this one with an aspheric yet?

Im wondering as the dies are so small and so close together if you would get away with a slightly out of focus aspheric lens and still get good throw and limit the side spill?

Also Does anyone have any pictures of de focused aspheric lenses that are using multi led's as Im guessing????? with an aspheric de focused to a point where the 3 or 4 separate led's will come to form a nice tight spot, that it would be still better than individual optics?? due to the light from the aspheric having less side spill? Maybe......

Even with an MC-E or P7 you have to defocus quite a lot to get a beam without disturbing artifacts. With three emitters such far apart you would have to defocus very much, like flood mode in flood-to-throw 'zooming' flashlights. For a thrower you'd need individual optics, I think.

Not going to work Gav. By the time you got them "blended" there would be no throw left. You'd be better off with just bare emitters than to try that.
