Does anyone think it would be possible to create an in-line dimmer switch for an LED using the magnet technology found in those torches with an output adjustment ring such as Surefire's U2 or Jetbeam RRT-1

This is one area where hunters really miss out on.

I am not aware of anyone with a product remotely like this so would be interested to hear if the idea is complete rubbish or if it is doable ?

Basically, a hunter just needs retinal eye reflection to locate quarry and you do not need an awful lot of light to acheive this.

Red filtered light that is barely perceptable to the human eye will reflect off certain creatures - rabbits for example. It is even more marked for predators such as fox or even deer.

Once spotted, it is possible to ramp up the output to process the matter further so a dimmer is a real big PLUS to hunters ?

What is holding this back (other than being a niche market perhaps) ?

Thanks

Looman
