I don't own a Stinger but I've read so much about them that I can literally dream the specs and features.

First, there is the 'standard' Stinger.

As you can see, it has a pushbutton on the head and is made of aluminum.
It also has a spare lamp storage inside the tailcap.

Then there's the Stinger XT, a 'tactical' version of the regular Stinger.

It has a tailcap switch (clickie), aluminum body and a non-slip rubber grip.
No spare lamp storage because of the switch.

The PolyStinger...

...is a polymer version of the regular Stinger (hence the word Poly).
It also has a pushbutton on the head and spare lamp storage inside the tailcap.

Each type of Stinger has a Lexan lens and adjustable focus.

The HP or High Performance reflector...

...basically replaces the standard head on the Stinger and Stinger XT...

...and offers a tighter, furthing reaching beam.
Because the lamp of the HP head is larger, it can not be stored inside the tailcap.

Did this help?

Weighing in at just over 1 lb, the Ultrastinger from Streamlight is no lightweight when it comes to brightness. The Ultrastinger blasts a beam of light measuring 75,000 CP and is the brightest light available from Streamlight. The UltraStinger features an adjustable focus that produces a smooth even beam with a nice white center spot. This light activates with on/off/blink switch. The machined aluminum barrel of the UltraStinger is slightly over 1" in diameter and the head of the light measures 2-1/4" in diameter. The Ultrastinger can be charged from the standard Stinger/Polystinger steady charge systems

There are also some SuperStingers still floating around out there. It has the head of the regular Stinger and a battery compartment like the UltraStinger. Twice the runtime of the regular Stinger. It can be upgraded to UltraStinger performance with a HP head and UltraStinger bulb.
The UltraStinger has replaced it in StreamLight's product line.
Regards,
Greg

By the way: Nice post Velcro.
