I am tired of making SST-90 Mags, so this is my last one.
For all the different kind of SST-90 Mags I've built, see the links in my signature.

Each time, I make something different, something new & haven't been done before usually, so it keeps me from getting bored. I don't like making the same thing twice.

The special "new" feature in this light is that it's powered by safe chemistry LiFepo4 26650 cells. The cells are rate 7Amp constant & 14Amp Max, so the SST-90 in this light is limited to ~7Amp with two freshly charged LiFep04 26650 & a 0.3 Ohm/25W high power resistor.

The light has only two modes: Dark silence & OMG I am blind.
Meant to be a Robust Duty light that is: Powerful, bullet proof, simple to operate & Safe.

This light will blow away Trunite catapult V2, Tiablo ACE G,Sure Fire M6 or the new Surefire M3LT.

Specs:

  • Brand new Rebel LED Mag2D as host
  • SST-90 6500K on Der Wichtel's SST-90 heat sink for rebel mag
  • Bare led attached to heatsink by Arctic Silver thermo adhesive
  • 20AWG Silver coated copper Teflon wires
  • Deep Rebel SMO reflector bored to accept the heat sink post
  • Arctic Silver 5 thermo paste between heatsink & mag body
  • Heat sink modified to accept a beefy 0.3 Ohm 25W power resistor
  • Mag switch resistance mod & wired are 20AWG teflon as well
  • Copper Contact pad for battery positive connection
  • Driven by 2x LiFepo4 Safe Chemistry 3300 mah 26650 cells (3.3v cells)
  • The Starting current is about 7 Amps with fresh battery.
  • PVC battery adapter
  • Mag Tail cap de-annoed inside + recessed spring mod.
  • Rebel deep SMO gives SST-90 the best throw with a perfectly round spot
  • not just powerful, this light will out throw most pencil beam led throwers
Price is $195, three options of shipping:
US, PP Goods: Shipping + PP fee+ insurance = $23
US, PP gift option: $15 shipping/insurance
International: PP gift only. No tracking/no insurance. Shipping = $25

Battery not included, if you want the two LiFepo4 Battery, add $20.

Re: FS-On hold: SST-90 Mag 2D LiFep04 build 2000 lumens

if i had the money available i would take it,

but i dont :broke:

if its still here in a few days ill take it,

but i doubt it will be

looking at those beamshots, the 1200 lumen 5xr2 is taken in the dark,

your sst-90 completely outclasses it in every way and the sky is light, its daytime

i want this, but i cant have it right now

acceptance is a useful attribute............

Re: FS: SST-90 Mag 2D LiFep04 build 2000 lumens

Thanks,

This light is like a single mode version of lamda's Vera2000 that BigC made famous by doing many lumens & throw measurements.

Both are SST-90 done on Mag Rebel SMO. Except that This light is 2D, vs Vera 2000 being a larger 3D. This light runs on LiFepo4, Vera 2000 Runs on NiMH, which need maintainance charging if not used frequent enough, othervise battery will loose capacity over time.

It's the same size & price range as Vera1000 (SST-50 version on Mag2D),
but obviously a lot more powerful than Vera1000.

I'd take it if it didn't take batteries that require a special hobby charger. Everything I own so far can be charged with my Pila, Powerex or WF-138. I don't even want to own another charger. I'm running out of shelf space!

Very nice design. Good luck with the sale.

No need for expensive hobby charger. ebay dual bay Lifepo4 charger only cost $8 or so.

Do you have one of those chargers? If you do and you include the charger for an additional $8 I'll take it with the batteries.

That's:
Flashlight $195
Batteries $20
Charger $8
US, PP gift option $15 = $238

Correct?

Re: FS: SST-90 Mag 2D LiFep04 build 2000 lumens

The New UltraFire WF-188 charges them. I purchased my charger here:
http://www.lighthound.com/Ultrafire...3-37-volt-Lithium-Battery-Charger_p_3669.html

The WF-188 fits those massive 26650's perfectly. The voltage can be set for 3.2V cells (the charger doesnt have 3V) or the 3.7V IMR variants.

Charges them at 600mA.

Good luck with the sale.

It doesn't say it will charge 26650's.

Do you know of a compact charger that actually claims that it will charge 26650 and NOT be a hobby charger that requires you to hold leads in place with magnets on a single battery?

I'm not talking about the special battery holder mods that I have seen here: https://www.candlepowerforums.com/threads/271661

Thanks for the help!

bigC says that he purchased one...and I presume, from his post, that he uses it to charge 26650 cells...

Just by looking at it that new charger shouldn't need leads or magnets. Its open on both sides from battery top to bottom. The contacts will adjust for the length height of the battery. Good find bigC. It's evn cheaper on Deal Extreme.

Btw ma_sha1, I take it your light is run direct drive with the current and voltage limited by the 0.3ohm resistor. Good job and a great way to run the sst-90 direct drive with higher voltage batts.

That WF charger sure fits those 26650 = like a glove and charges both 3.2V and 3.7V cells.

Now, whose getting this insane 30 plus watt monster????

The Deep Rebel Reflector and SST-90 are a good combo with 45k~50k lux its a thrower too.

Re: FS: SST-90 Mag 2D LiFep04 build 2000 lumens

Thanks to bigchelis for the help.

I guess what I was getting at is the UltraFire WF-188 does not claim to charge the 26650 cells in either chemistry. Even DX does not make that claim about the WF-188 and they would be likely to claim it would charge a car battery if they thought they could get away with it.

I want to be able to easily and carelessly charge the batteries not bite my nails when I do.

Sounds good, PP gift $238. I'll include the batteries + dual bay charger and magnets too, as the cell is flat top.

The Mag and parts arrived today well packaged. The fit and finish is outstanding. I checked out your work with the head and tail off and it is so clean it looks like a factory produced it!

The only complaint I have is with the brightness of your mod compared to my new RRT-3. I can't believe how much brighter this Mag is during a ceiling bounce in a dark room compared to the RRT-3 on high. If it wasn't for the cool UI I would now hate the RRT-3 especially considering the cost of each and the lack of focus adjustment for the Jetbeam.

Thanks again Ma,

Thanks for the feed back, I am glad you liked it.

This is my last single SST-90, as I am tired of making them :)

Now, If I can just get my lazy behind off the couch & get to work on the Triple SST-90 Full Copper "Nuke" edition
