Yes, you can grind the edges of that board to make it fit but you definitely will need a driver to get it to light up. I will say that this would be a very ambitious project due to the size of the host, and, kudos to you if you can get it to work. A much simpler way to go would be to get a Solitaire drop-in from eBay and be done with it but that only puts out around 10 lumens on a fresh battery.

You need to grind it down to 10mm or so, you'll grind into the solder pad &
run the risk of shorting it out.

Better to Use Cutter Electronic XPG on 10mm board to start,
You can mode it with various resistors in tail to avoid the light engine problem, there's none available that small & there's almost no room for one anyways.

Soli. is good start, inexpensive & good practice for soldering skills.
Here are some I've made in case you find it helpful.

Hi all, so i visited cutter electronics site and found the cree xp-e. But now i am confused what pcb i need? can somebody tell me exactly wich one should fit? Second i cant find the lisa optics but ran across this one Carclo XP Range 10mm Optics. I think i can grind the edges off right? Also with this optic i cant see witch one i should get, do they fit all or is a more floody optic shorter than a focussed one. We all now there is not much room in there:sick2:.

Thnx ma sha1 for the link. But do you now if the shipping is always this high? 12.35 euro to ship to the netherlands sounds like a bit much to me, its only a led and a lens it should fit inside a envelope right? Shipping is now more expensive then the whole order together. Maybe somebody nows where to get my parts in europa? Any help would be apriciated.
