problem with my A9 Q5:
- 18650 o.k.
- 2x cr123 o.k. and brighter than 18650

but with 2x 16340 the light isn't brighter than cr123 and immediately after firing up the tint is blueish! Because i'm afraid of burning the led or the driver board i did'nt any longer runs. Tried various 16340 (imr too), all fresh from the charger with 3,9 - 4,1 V. Is there something wrong though the manufacturer claims cr123, 18650 and 16340?

anyone with similar experiences?

My A9 worked like a charm on RCR's. This is very strange, because it uses step-down driver constant current driver, which should convert 7.4V from 2xRCR to any voltage the led requires to run at 1A (~3.3-4.2V).

Are you sure, that your Tiablo has the original driver?

don't know but i've got the original invoice of a german dealer.
I think i don't risk any damage and will only use CR123. Anyway i didn't notice more lumens by using rcr's.

I have just taken current measurements of my A9 using 2 X AW 16340, 1 X AW 18650 and 2 X Panasonic CR123A. All cells are fresh.

The results are 0.77 A, 0.77 A and 0.99 A respectively?

So my light should be the brightest on CR123A cells?

I have been running my A9 almost exclusively on 16340's without a problem for over a year in the belief that is was a little brighter than a 18650. Looks like either cell type will give the same light output and CR123A's will out do both for some reason?

Steve.
