Hello *@*.

I just made a short video comparing two of my flashlights:

Left: 4Sevens Quark 123² with Cree XP-G R5 cold white (~230 lumens)
Right: HDS EDC U60 XR modded with SSC P4 S42182 "High CRI" (Ra=93, TT1S0H bin, ~100 lumens)

Both flashlights @ max setting.
Camera: Fuji F31fd, 480p, auto-ISO, auto-whitebalance, 35mm, f/2.8

The YouTube video processing killed some of the shadow details but I think the superiority of the SSC P4 in colour rendering is still very noticeable. Note how much better the reds/browns show with the SSC P4.

Yes, nice .

It obvious how green and brown seems similar on the cool side.

Look, you gotta love that High CRI with all of the colors of nature.

The one problem I had with finally switching to a LED headlamp for outdoor stuff, like fishing, was getting used to the colors compared to my incan lights. I remember wading through a river real early in the morning, probably 10 salmon hanging out right in front of me, and using the LED was difficult because I really couldn't identify what I was looking at. After some time it was no big deal, once I "reprogram" my brain as to what colors look like in certain light. Did I see deeper into the water with my incan? No. Were more colors from fish, logs, and rocks blended together with LED? Yes. Regardless, I still went from one LED headlight to newer brighter LED headlight.

I love the look of High CRI, but with my limited funds I feel like it is (at this time) a luxury. Maybe my next purchase (after a Ra Clicky 170) will be a High CRI headlamp!!

A few more still frames from the video showing the high CRI goodness: :candle:

^The wall is made from red sandstone blocks and is, in fact, just as red as the high CRI shows it.

By the way, the SSC P4 appears less bright in the video than it actually is (camera weighed exposure more towards the brighter parts and the Youtube video conversion made it look darker, too).
