I found that a plastic cap for copper water pipe (used to protect the ends in shipping) will fit perfictly over the threads and O-ring on all arc ls battery packs. Just squeeze and the vacuume will hold it secure. they are usually orange and can be found in most hardware stores. I can now carry my 2 AA pack in a sheath with out worrying about loosing the batteries or dirt in the threads. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I have found that the clear plastic caps from the valve of a "sports" type water bottle are also a perfect fit. Try it!

DSpeck made some custom durlin covers for Arc LS battery packs quite a while ago. He even did a few in aluminum. I have two that are in use today.

Delrin?

Durlin?

Darlin?

I know how you feel!

It drives me nuts when people say, "it's a mute point"

I want to scream IT'S MOOT! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

IT'S A MOOT POINT!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Is it Delrin, or was it "self lubricating Engineering grade plastic"

I guesss it's a moot point /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Roth,
My site is down... AGAIN!
As soon as its back up, I'll post a few pics of the ahh "plastic" cap. (I'm gonna catch hell for that one) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

[EDIT] Actually, goto this other Arc batt pack cap thread.
There is more info there, and when ever my site is back up, those pics I posted in that thread will be back.

Everyone,

As long as we're off topic, the expression "moot point" has really evolved (or should I say devolved) until it means nearly the opposite of what it used to mean. Some of you Tolkien fans out there may remember the Ent moot: a moot is an assembly exercising political, administrative, and judicial powers. In the past, when people said that something was a "moot point" they meant that it was "subject to argument or discussion, debatable, or doubtful" and NOT(!) that it was irrelevant or unimportant. When someone comments that the spelling of a type of plastic is a moot point, they really mean that it is an unimportant or trivial point and that they don't want to be corrected over such a picayune concern. (Not that I agree with that assessment, mind you.)

Here endeth the lesson.

wow, is that really where the word origionally came from?!
