Is the 14500 to the 18650 what the 10440 is to the normal AAA? (and what LED torches can/are designed to use it?

**post**

Hi,

Sorry for the question i'm sure the answer is on the forums somewhere, I have used search, and got very confused with a whole bunch of numbers.

Whats the high voltage (ie, 10440) equivalent to the 18650 (or 2xCR123) battery called?

What LED torches are designed/can run on it?

I ask because I love being blown away by my little Fenix LD01 SS using 10440's and pumping out who knows how many lumens, and kinda want the same thing for a bigger torch :p (even though the 15 second runtime sucks a bit..)

Thanks.

If I understand your question, no.

The 18650 is already at 3.7v nominal.

10440 is 3.7v version of AAA
14500 is 3.7v version of AA

Ooops, so the 14500 is AA sized, thats a big stuffup lol.

So is there, say a 6 volt 18650 sized battery?

Nope, there's no chemistry for 6V batteries that I'm aware of. Closest you can get for rechargeables is two 16340s in series, but that's a nominal 7.2 V (fresh voltage is 8.4 V), and as per the name, once you stack them the result will be a nominal 16 mm dia and 68 mm long.

AusKipper, now that your first question (a better match for the /Batteries-Electronics/ subforum) has been answered, I will rename your thread to your second question, as this was posted in the /LED flashlights/ subforum ...

Edit: And now that the topic is narrowed down, there are many virtually identical threads on this topic, some of them quite recent. Please check out the considerable search returns for "LED lights 14500" and go from there.
