India celebrates Diwali, the festival of lights (and Goddess Lakshmi), this week, starting 03/Nov through 07/Nov. Celebrated throughout Indian homes, poor and rich, small and large, this is one week of joy. There is a lot of cheer in the air, and well, it feels good. Some important stuff that we do:
-Amarendra
- homes are decorated with oil-lamps (these days replaced with LED-lamps too!). Some nice images of the lamps here.
- faral (mostly sweet edible stuff) is prepared at home.
- outside every home, a rangoli is drawn with vivid colors and shapes.
- kids enjoy fireworks
