older stylezebralight headlamp running weird

I have an AA zebra light. Not sure if theres a new model out or not, but I got it a few years ago. The light will work fine, but then if I leave it on for too long, especially high. If I turn it off, it wont turn on at all again. I dont know if the light has some sort of heat sensor that forces the light to be off until it cools off. Ive had thelight sit overnight and sometimes it will turn on , sometimes it wont. Sometimes if you leave it for a few minutes it will work again. Ive tried fresh batteries too and sometimes that works, sometimes it doesnt. Any ideas waht could be causing this and if it could be the switch?
