Ray X60 Review, Very Very Picture Heavy!

I was provided a Ray X60 Flashlight from Ray Tactical for review.





The Ray X60 uses a XP-G R5.



Has 3 levels high, low and strobe. Forward clickie. Memorizes it's last setting when selected to off.



Voltage, 2.7-8.5V



Can use 1 18650, 1 17670, 2 RCR123's and 2 CR123's.



Comes with a lanyard, o-rings, spare rear GITD rubber cover and holster which I will show you later.























Uses a XP-G R5.















Uses 304 Stanless Steel for the bezel.

I choose the Ray X60 XP-G R5 and the 4 Sevens Malestrom G5 XP-G R5 for lux readings and beam shots because both lights use the same XP-G R5's, same battery configuration, SMO reflectors and the throw is very good.



I used my Meterman LM631, 2 AW's RCR 123's 3.7V 750mAh and 1 8650 3.7V 2200mAh batteries for the lux readings and beam shots.







The batteries were always fully charged for the lux readings and the beam shots.



I read Selfbuilt's review of the Ray X60 XP-G R5 and found that out that his lux readings for the 4 Sevens Malestrom G5 XP-G R5 were very close to the 2 RCR123's and 1 18650 battery that I was using for my lux readings. The lux readings of the Ray X60 XP-G R5 were about 3,000 to 4,000 lux higher on Selfbuilt's Ray X60 XP-G R5 then my light using both the RCR123's and 1 18650.



On both my lux readings of the Ray X60 XP-G R5 and 4 Sevens Malestrom G5 XP-G R5 the 1 18650 battery had the higher lux reading. The 2 RCR123's usually have the higher lux readings, Maybe it's time for me to purchase some new RCR123's.



I took the lux readings in about 1 minute after turing on the light.

When I stepped done the exposure you can really see the hole in the 4 Sevens Malestrom G5 XP-G R5. The Ray X60 XP-G R5 doesn't show the hole.

I did notice the lens bezel on the Ray X60 has very sharp edges so be careful.



The machining and finish is excellent.



The threads are very smooth. Threads were not lubed.



The rear clickie feels very good. Just right, not mushy or hard to press.



The beam is excellent. A hole is noted when you are about 6 away from the wall. The beam is very white in its hot spot.



Wish the strobe was in a hidden mode. I think the reason its there is because if a law enforcement person can get to the strobe fast if needed, just 3 half clicks to get to it.



The lanyard is a nice touch. Not one of the el cheapo lanyards.



The holster works good in either the vertical or horizontal position. Cannot be used in the bezel down positon. Light will fall out.
