ra clicky blinking off question

i recently purchased an ra clicky, 120 edc.



currently i have it set up as follows:



click on - lowest brightness

double click from on some medium brightness

triple click while on - max brightness



this worked fine for a few days, but today i turned it on and, after a triple click i can see it ramp up to maximum brightness, then it blinks off, then goes max brightness for 3 seconds or so and blinks off, then 3 seconds blink off etc



all i could find on the ra website is that it has a graceful low battery warning. from looking online that seems to mean that it ramps down. this battery is supposedly new as given to me and these symptoms dont seem to reflect low battery. is this thermal protection?



i set single click to max brightness and it exhibited the same symptoms, not sure how that knowledge helps me though



any advice would be appreciated, this is my first clicky and the build quality seems awesome, i would just like to figure out what is up. i tried searching around but haven't gotten anywhere
