As promised, some pictures of the lanyards and more pictures of the light. Sorry for the poor picture quality, the sun was hidden behind clouds most of the time.

A little stainless to compliment some stainless!

The blue lanyard is actually a deeper blue than in the picture.

Wow, all the pages from 2 onwards of this thread are gone. Well, let me just say that I have just received my 6500 example and boy, what a light - easily one of the most impressive I have ever seen!! Just as impressive as the McGizmo Haiku XP-G I received the day before!!

The high output and beautiful tint, quality of machining and solid structure of this light is first class - great value for money!!

The beam is artifact free and the hotspot is smooth with no donut hole - perfect! It really is a well engineered piece of kit.

It's a custom light at a very reasonable price and if you can ignore the extra weight of SS, you can pretend it's Ti!

I'm a very happy camper,

James.....:naughty:

Got mine just before the CPF crash. It is a great light for the price, and built like a tank.

I was only able to get the first page back from Google cache. I tried to add all the posts that pertained to this thread that I could below.

The second and third page that I could not recover had beam shots from one of the members and more reviews of the light.

  • Just so I'm sure I'm clear, this is a 700 lumen light? That seems ridiculously bright compared to my other ones of similar size. My brightest is a Fenix that's 280 lumens. Is there any catch? (sorry for the really nooby question, still new to all this, pls be gentle)

A catch? No, he is using the very bright SST-50 emitter.

  • As I stated, it will be about 700 lumens when you first turn it on but will quickly drop to around 600 lumens. I think with this host having a large heavy pill and the weight of the host, it will sustain a higher lumen output than say a light weight aluminum host. There are a few other small SST-50 lights/ tripples being offered on the forums and they all perform about the same. Without a large host and heavy/ large pill, the lumens will drop quickly and then stabilize at a lower output with these smaller hosts.

This light uses a high power SST-50 LED, that is the reason it has a higher output than your Fenix light. The light you have most likely has a XRE or XPG led.

  • Rudy,

    I'm intrigued... and tempted.

What's the pedigree of this new light? Can you provide more detail about the components used, and perhaps some larger and clearer photos? Perhaps a shot of the light in action...

The 700 lumen (nominal) field is starting to get a bit crowded - what would you describe as the outstanding feature(s) of this light? With a stainless body, how does it handle the heat load - can it be run comfortably, and safely, on high continuously?

Let me see if I can answer some of your questions without being to vague.

I'm not sure of the exact spec's of the steel, sorry.
It uses your typical 7135 2.8A driver.
It uses a large/ heavy weight pill that screws into the head.
It uses your typical non McClicky clicky switch that can be removed.
It uses a metal LOP/ MOP reflector.

Outstanding features might be that it is stainless and I have not seen many stainless hosts floating around, it is clean with no name or logo and the fact that it is built like a tank (thick and heavy weight).

I will run some heat tests sometime this weekend. I have a DMM that has a probe attachment that I can attach to the body and record the temps. It measures up to 1200 degree's.

I will try to get larger pictures with more detail this weekend sometime as well.

I have to be honest, I suck at taking beam shots. It has the exact same beam pattern as all the other EDC SST-50 lights being offered. It is a room lighter, not a spotting light. The beam is smooth with no distinct rings or hotspot. From 5-6ft away, you can see a faint hotspot and from 10ft and beyond you cannot.

  • Received mine and I really love it. The build quality is exceptional and the light has a solid heft to it. The brightness is awesome and the UI is easy. The wall thickness of the main body is very good. I'm really happy with the light overall. Might even get another.

I resisted this thread the first time I stumbled upon it, but not this time. I bought one of the solarforce SS hosts a year or so back and I love it. Lightweight, no, but sometimes weight isn't as important and a heavier host just feels good in your hand.

Payment sent for-
