Finally decided to try my (2x) AW18650-2600's in my light...and got a nasty surprise I have been using the Ultrafire 18500's with no problem without the extender.
They don't work!! And it appears even the redilast with the raised tops will not either.
Problem is Jetbeam has changed the contact area of the LED module and there is a machined lip (about 7mm I.D) that sticks up about 1/32 ABOVE the contact. I tried an 8mm magnet....no go.
So yes CR123 or my UF 18500 have the small top that fits, but if I want to use a 'good' quality 18650 like AW or Redilast they won't work.
I'm thinking about grinding this down or maybe try adding a blob of solder, but worried I might screw up my new baby!
The LED portion started to unscrew easily...but when I looked inside the contact area was not turning with it. So I stopped for fear there maybe wires that would break if I unscrewed the LED fully.
Anybody know if I can unscrew it fully without damaging it? How does it make it's electrical contact with the driver module?
Anybody have this issue and find a workaround??
Thanks in Advance.
