I just discovered the cheapest DIY pocket thrower.
1. Buy a Romisen RC-G2 for about $10 from Bestofferbuy, dealextreme, kaidomain, ebay ...etc
2. Twist off the head and remove the pill with a pair of needle nose pliers
3. Remove the solder from the driver edge and remove the driver from the pill with a flat head screw driver.
4. Remove the red wire and solder to the center contact on the driver board similar to the picture.
5. Cut a tiny groove on the driver to let the red wire stick out of the pill.
6. Solder everything back to normal.
7. The light now is running direct drive. You will need a 14500 battery.
As you can see from the beamshots that the RC-G2 with the P2 is now exceptionally bright! I have tested it to run for about 1 hour with no heat issues. The first 30min has close to max brightness while the last 30 is still very bright. I would say still brighter than stock in the last 30 minutes. You may inject some thermal paste into the pill before soldering the drivers into the pill for better heat relieve. This mod made the RC-G2 a real thrower because of the factory deep reflector. I will try an R2 and report how much better of an improvement.
