I am designing, then plan to build, what will be a specialized headlamp. I know I can buy one but........
Specific dimensions are up to the parts readily available. The case will be made to fit OTS parts as much as possible. I'd like it so the lens is about 25mm diam. The key is to have very little spillover from the central beam. The beam should be about 80mm, maybe less, at about 350mm (3-3.5 at 14). My calculations give that a 13-degree or so beam angle. I am not as fussy about exact measurements, just pretty close. I am fussy about the spillover. I assume I will need some sort of refractive lens in addition to the reflector.
How do I go about calculating the curvature/focal length of the lens (if needed) and figuring out the correct reflector to achieve this??
