At last, i did receive all part to finish this light - Maglite 3D with SST-50 and 4x parallel 18650 bateries.
What was done with it:
- Dual bored Maglite body to accept 1s4p 18650 batteries
- Custom battery holder with charging jack on back
- Custom heatsink for SST-50 on star
- Custom multilevel linear LED driver (4 light levels, level memory + hidden blink mode and battery level mode)
- Seoul P7 MOP reflector with trimmed lip to fit in Maglite head (also it makes thermal contact with LED heatsink)
- Driver is connected thru Maglite switch, but led - dirrectly to switch + spring (because could not get more than 3,1A thru switch because of 0,35V drop)
LED driver is made on 14x AMC7135 in grops 4 + 4 + 6 , controlled by Attiny25
Drive levels:
80mA (1,35A PWM)
1,35A (constant current)
2,7A (constant current)
4,7A (constant current)
Battery level mode:
6 blinks - full ( 4,14V)
5 blinks - almoust full ( 4V)
4 blinks
3 blinks
2 blinks - almoust empty
1 blink - empty ( 3,2V)
Light on full 4,7A - head is hot (can still hold the head, but not very confortable) after 10min and stays that hot further, so Maglite heat dissipation is right for this LED drive level.
And finally the pictures of the build:
Beam pattern with different exposures
Thanks for looking!
