This a combination hello and request for help post. Couple of months ago I was camping and two of the guys there had some awesome torches and now I want one to.
This forum got recommended by one of those guys and so far I've read:

So I know the basis of how to do a basic mod but if there's any more reading on the internet people could recommend that would be nice =)
In terms of the mods I'd like to try I've got a maglite D 3-cell and mini-maglite 2 cell AA xenon to play with.
For the D I'd like a torch thats more suited to having a really tight beam, one of the torches I saw had a lens nearly spherical which meant it could throw a clearly defined square of light a huge distance.
For the mini I'm thinking modifying it so the battery compartment has a switch for the on and off instead of twisting the lens housing. And of course an upgrade to the light source, one to maintain the existing even light spread.
But yeah, this is me starting to get into it so I'll be browsing the forums to try and learn more about the whole thing =)
