Buying tips on soldering equipment?

I didn't find a section on tips for good equipment and tools so I thought I'd try my luck here.

I used to be a bit of a low-level electronics tinkerer when I was younger, picking apart TV sets and amplifiers, trying to fix them (sometimes with success...). I lost that but I feel like getting back to electronics fiddling now that you see all the cool stuff available.

But my ancient equipment consists of a worn down 20 $ soldering pen so that needs to be updated, and I was wondering what you guys use and if you could recommend anything. I am planning to modify flashlights to start with and what I was thinking of getting is:

-A good light-and-magnifying glass thingy, something like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/H-DUTY-90mm-HE...item1c1778024a , but with a light.

- A soldering station suitable for small and delicate jobs. I have no idea if one should get a soldering pen or a hot air reflow pen? Haven't used the reflow pens since school but was impressed with them then.

I was thinking of spending maybe 3-400 US$ on the basic equipment, but that depends of course on what you get for it.

Any tips, suggestions, pitfalls? :)

EDIT: How about this one? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2-1-SMD-HOT-AI...item230d607714
