How do I replace the Kroll Switch????

I find myself needing to replace a Kroll on my LS. the good folks at Arc promptly sent out a replacement switch, but no instructions for the Newbie. Brute force simply seems wrong, so how do I do it?

The Kroll just unscrews. Turn it the same direction as you
would when you unscrew the tailcap to change a battery.

I'm not sure how tight Arc is installing those, but it can't be too bad since they're held in with nylon threads. Just grab the thing as close to the base as possible and unscrew. Really the only thing that should be hanging you up is the friction of the black boot on the butt of the light. One you get it started back, it'll spin out quite easily.

Here's one for you. Some of the guys at work were so
impressed with my ARC LSH-P that they have bought their own.
Well, one guy said he couldn't get the battery in & that
the battery didn't fit. He didn't have it with him, so I
pulled mine out & showed him how to install the battery.
That's when I found out he had unscrewed the Kroll switch
in an attempt to install the battery /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/faint.gif

He's gonna need some skinnier batteries!

Are you sure he's worthy of a $150 light?

Worthy or not he was due. He is a conductor on the Railroad
& is furnished with a lantern that probably weighs 3 lbs.
Conductors have to carry the lantern when it's dark (to give
hand sign), but they still need a light more than most
because they work a lot of nights. These guys don't shine
their lights on walls to check the beam, but they know a
good light when they see one.

I'm glad I found this thread becuse I was having one heck of a time figuring out how that switch went into the back of the light. My boot was installed with an unaesthetic gap on one side and I read about how you should just snug it down, but when you don't know how something goes together you're a little wary of doing anything. It is now nice and even all the way around.

I think that that would work with the 2AA TSP. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
