MagLite Disassembly

In attempting to remove all of my 4D maglite's bits to unstick the batteries, I CANNOT get that cursed snap-ring loose! I've bent a dental pick, chipped the edge of my screwdriver, and still that thing won't budge! Any hints??? Please???

You can slip a small screwdriver (1/8") under one end and pry it out. You could stick an old knife between the two points and force them out of thier home. Maglite use the snap ring on some and a threaded nut that can be removed with long nose pliers in the holes. The snap ring is harder for me to get off.

I've never had much of a problem getting the snap ring out. Did the battery leak onto it and corrode it as well?
