This light has 5 levels of output on a 14500, but only 4 with a nimh. 5th and 4th setting is the same power with a nimh.
My question is do the circuit lower the voltage of the 14500 or do the circuit boost the voltage of the nimh?
I've seen that for example on its 3rd level the light draws 0.11A from the 14500, but over 700% more amps, ie 0.81A on the same 3rd power setting with a 2700 mah AA Unicross. That while the lights output are the same with both batteries on this level. Quite a big difference!
Am I right when I say that theoretically, the light should have a runtime on its 3rd setting of under 3.5 hours with a 2700mah Nimh AA, but with a 900mah 14500 the runtime should exceed 8 hours??
My main question, the reason I actually started this thread
What would the manufacturers reason be not too let the light run at the same max brightness on a nimh than with a 14500? Will the heat be too much? Is the amp draw too much?
