Just got a black E2E today this is one nice looking light it seems to me to be black HA (flat black or matt black instead of the shiny type 2 anodizing) the laser engraving realy stands out on this light. The color on the bezel and body match perfectly but the tailcap looks like it is type 2 ano ( shiny finnish ) they should have been making these all along Nice light.

That sounds pretty cool...
My TW4 is very dark in the standard HA III, more like a charcoal color, but the head is more typical. Black sounds very nice.
My only concern would be for durability... my E2E is fairly old, but still looks virtually new! I'd hate to give that up.

Shark,
I am just reviewing your post...
Did you get any info on whether this is a type II HA or type III HA finish?
I am not sure from what is said... if it is type III HA in matte black, that is very cool indeed. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

A Black HAIII E2e??? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I didn't know that SureFire made black E2e's. Burgundy, yes (the wine lights) and natural HAIII too (kinda like OD green), but black???

Where'd you get it from?

I'll have to scan SFs product list forthis year. E2e, E1e, and few more lights will be made in BLACK HA3.

its either type II or type III. type III is HA. type II is the normal shiny anodizing you get on maglites, and is not HA.
