Over on CPFmarketplace.com, CPF user ptolemy has one up for sale right now ... click.

And RMSK/Peak has announced their SR6000A with the CSM-360 at 6500 lumens, to be available June 2011 ... click.

I posed a similar question a few months back, but there weren't any replies regarding who was actively toying with the idea of flashlights powered by this chip.

Just think about the challenges that flashlight designers have when trying to make a light around an SST-90: 9A of current, which is about 25 Watts, which means lots of batteries, lots of heat, lots of heatsinking to keep it all from going :poof:. Now consider that the CSM-360 is nothing more than four SST-90s clustered under one common dome and you've just compounded those problems four-fold. The resulting flashlight would not be something that you would try to carry on your belt, that's for sure. I'm not saying that it cannot be done, just that it's not going to be easy to do. Also, since this is a multi-die LED, much like the SSC P7 or Cree MC-E, the beam could have donut holes and weird artifacts from the physical separation of the different dies.

Hi, I'm new around here, I searched and have not seen where anyone has attempted to use what appears to be the most powerful LED package I could find? It is just too difficult to make a custom flashlight for this LED? Heatsink? Circuit? Batteries? http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Luminus-Devices/CSM-360-W65S-D22-GV102/ Datasheet: http://www.luminus.com/stuff/conten...510bf/miscdocs/pds_001353_csm_360_w_rev05.pdf

Does this help ?
