Thread on Arc LS

Hi. I recently purchased an Arc LS. In examining it I noticed that the thread on the head is missing on a small band (about 7mm wide, for the full length of the thread). Is this normal? If so, does anybody know what purpose does it fulfills?

I think thats there to accomodate the tab on the NX05 optic. If that channel wasnt there, it would be a real pain trying to centre the optic.

it also allows the optic to be installed easily, where previously it would get stuck on the way in due to the tab on the NX05 optic /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
