I am new to this forum and I hope in the right section, so please forgive me if I messed up and this thread needed to be posted elsewhere. Ive mostly have worked with and built the coherent and monochromatic version of light, but would like to get also into building some of my own flashlights and other lighting systems. So far I own only a few flashlights that are run from either an 18650 or a pair of CR123s, the latter outputing less then 300 lumens, craving more power, I will be building more powerfull ones into the future.

What I really love most about these type of hobbies, is the DIY aspect of it, I really enjoy making things, both mechanical and electrical related.

As right now im working on finishing up some stuff, but mostly laser related, but soon will also be building some of my own flashlights. so I figured Ill share a few photos:

Here is the my previous project, a 1.2W> 445nm laser, powered of one 18650 with a synchronous boost converter to drive the LD.

and here is my current project, a fairly large host that will fit an 32650 cell (for a DPSS system for 532nm). the whole head for the most part took shape, I just need to bore it out and fit it to work for my build and I still need to make the handle/tail switch. After I will finish this project, I will be starting to work on trying to make a few more powerfull lights to pile up onto my addiction :p

This is where the host's head is at right now, I need to finish it up and start working on the main body. there should be plenty of cooling for this build and good runtimes.

Thats all for now, I hope to be able to contribute to this forum, and learn some new things in the process.

Cheers!

Welcome to CPF!

The 1.2W already look intimidating, with the bigger one, are you going burn a hole in the tree? :)

More then likly, I can only hope :p

Right now Im also mid-way comming up with a new host that will hopefully house a 70W brick LED. Im going to need to make this host quite monstrous to hold the batteries and still provide enough room for the reflector and have enough mass to dissapate the heat.

Gonna use four 32650's in series to achive ~14V-15V and then boost it to the Vfwd of the module (will also regulate the current) these LEDs are more or less rated to output ~5000-6000 lumens, so this could get quite interesting with the reflector setup to get a nice beam.

Still in its design stage, but I think I will be able to turn it into reality soon.
