I don't get it :shakehead

But if it is priced well below MC10, I may get it. For example you can buy MC10 for $39 from goingear, so the "new" MC11 has to be in the price range of my 80 lumens R2 iTP A2 to be interesting enough :)

I'm confused what is the difference between this and the mc10?
MC10;

• Premium high power white LED with lifespan of 50,000 hours
• 3 levels of lighting output and 2 types of flashing mode
- Lighting output:5 lumens (65hrs) -> 50 lumens (5hrs) -> 125 lumens (1.2hrs)
- Flashing mode:Strobe (2.5 hrs) -> SOS (10 hrs)
• Max beam length: 90m
• Digitally regulated output - maintains constant brightness
• Intelligent memory function
• Uses one 1.5V AA (Ni-MH, alkaline ) battery, inexpensive and widely available
• Working voltage:1V~1.6V
• Size: 99mm( Length) x 21.5mm (Diameter)
• Materials: Aircraft-grade aluminum (lighting head), quality plastic (Body tube)
• Premium Type III hard-anodized anti-abrasive finish
• 53.5-gram weight (excluding batteries)
• Waterproof to IPX-8 Standard
• Toughened ultra-clear glass lens with anti-reflective coating
• Head button switch
• Anti-roll, slip-resistant body design
• Accessories:Fastener,body clip,lanyard, diffuser lens

I can't see the point too unless it is a lot cheaper than the MC10 or it has very long battery run times, their web site has no info on runtimes or modes/levels though.

So it's the same brightness just better built. Huh, well that's abit of a waste. I've never heard complaints about the mc10

I see on Heinnies web site they show that black MC10 is discontinued and they reduced the price of the blue one so perhaps the MC11 is going to be its replacement and the MC10 is going to be stop being made.

IIRC some of the early MC10's suffered from a stiff switch button. Stiff enough it caused displeasureable pressure on the thumb to cycle the switch. Not all MC10's had the stiff switch though. I still have one and my wife another; both lights function just fine. Looking at Fenix photo's of the MC11 it appears the switch button has been enlarged considerably; it's wider. Naturally I can't say if they refined the switch internals, only time will tell if they addressed that also.

I saw MC11 claims a longer run time on high, but I don't know if that is due to a more efficient emitter, less driving amperage, or both. There may be more changes, but these are what I noted yesterday while briefly looking at the MC11 on the Fenix website.

Edit; I see the larger switch was addressed while I was typing this. I'm getting slower I guess.

could just be the new ansi ratings.... old ratings were to 50% and ansi goes to 5%?

Heh, I've had quite a few. Tailstanding with the head angled down was one of mine. Other than that, I do carry the MC10 with me most of the time.The angle head is quite useful and despite the greenish tint from the Osram Golden Dragon, its not too bad otherwise.

Funny that Fenix also did an "upgrade" of the HL20 to HL21 but changed very little.

Here are more pictures from Fenix. I have converted them from the source. Don't make them into links for leeching reasons. You'll have to copy and paste, sorry.

LED shot and OP reflector? I know they said XPE R2 but is that 4 strips on the LED there?: http://www.fenixlight.com/UploadFiles/201141592533337.jpg

The principal difference I read was that the head rotates 90 degrees, I don't see why I can't simply turn the whole light ? I have an MC-10 with the stiff switch(haha) and one without, which is much nicer. So that would be an improvement. Lightjunction is closing out the MC-10 for $39.95, the MC-11 is $44.95 -

These are the most useful lights I own, more runtime would be nice - I'll have to get a couple

~80 Lumens is very conservatively rated... probably with an alkaline. With an eneloop the MC10 did a stable 120 OTF in the BC sphere of truth, and draws a little over 3A.

dang I've been away from CPF for far too long.
