I haven't done a multi-LED build in a while since the High Power SST-50's and SST-90's came out, so it was time.
I wanted to do a tripple XM-L in a Mag host. I started with a 3D Mag and cut it down to a 2D size maintaining all the knurling and eliminating the side switch.
Next I test fit the DerWitchel tripple heatsink.
I wanted to use the highest bin XM=-L's I could find, so I used 3 Cree MX-L U2 1C and had to fabricate a centering jig to make sure they were perfectly centered while the Arctic Silver dried, it can be seen on the right side of this picture:
I had Jesus Hernandez dual bore the body so I could use 4X 18650 cells to power the serial LED's run by a Buck Shark with Remora.
Here is the battery adapter I purchased from mdocod, it had to be heavily modified to accept 4S 18650 cells, I turned down both ends, lengthened the support rods and the wire:
Here is a picture of the heatsink, and the new "+" Battery contact with Shark:
Next, the switch had to be moved to the tailcap to make it as short as possible:
All wired up and ready to rock!
Now to do a comparison shot with my 7X XR-E
First up, 7 XR-E
Now, 3 XM-L
