So my first 'real' light just got here in the mail today!! Perfect timing too as I go to the field with the Army tomorrow, Thurs, thru Sun so will get to put it to almost immediate use, well outside of playing with it like a kid at Christmas comparing it to the tons of other cheap lights I've got all over the place. I've always loved lights and just never wanted to look into good ones because of the cost that I knew would follow very close behind my even looking!

I decided on getting a Klarus NT20 2x123a after much decision between a few fairly comparable lights in the price range. (I posted on it a few days ago with the others) The Klarus' max output is 280 and was the highest of the group, not the only determining factor but I did really want my first to be pretty bright! lol! I like the feel for sure and was afraid it might prove to be a bit to small when I ordered it having no others to compare it to first hand but the size, grip, weight are all about perfect for what I was looking for. Its primary use on a regular basis will be on my belt as a security guard in a casino and in the casino's night club so it being as thin as it is turned out to be a definite PLUS and was one of my primary initial concerns about its size.

After trying out the power settings I think they will be great for the varying settings I will be using it in between the casino and club and allowing me to use enough light, not simply as bright as possible all the time, to save battery life. I'm not sure how big of a factor the battery life will prove to be as I've never used 123A's in anything before but always more life = better and cheaper!

Many reviews noted the relatively small knurls of the grip, which didn't greatly concern me, but the contours of the body seem to provide for a great fit so I don't think grip will prove to be a problem at all.

The strobe feature wasn't a selling point to me until I saw it and I think it could prove handy in the club when situations arise, as they occasionally do, that a person becomes 'unruly' and this could prove distracting/disorientating enough to be very useful. Anyone have experience with using this for such things?

I ordered from goinggear.com and the shipping was fast and free! Can't beat that! Ordered late Saturday night and arrived today, Wed., via USPS. I also had emailed them and ended up getting a 10% discount so decided to order 6 SureFire lithium 123A's and a 4 battery case at the same time to take advantage of saving some money. All total, light, 6 batteries, and the cheap 4 battery case was $80 with free shipping, I think that turned out pretty well. Sound like a decent price?

May sound like a dumb question but I'm all about asking anything just in case, is there anything I should do before taking it to the field other than simply looking it over for defects and being sure to test that all functions work properly? Also it seems to have some sort of grease on the o-rings, so I need to put some sort of silicon grease or something on them periodically to keep them from cracking/drying out? Remember, first real light, I doubt there's much 'upkeep' on a flashlight, but you never know till you either ask ahead of time or something goes wrong for not going ahead and showing off your ignorance! lol!

Thanks, sorry for the length of the post, just excited to finally own a good light and look forward to many more to come! :grin2:
