Ok, so I'm new to the forum and haven't been into flashlights for very long so I need to ask what kind of light is above stoli67's v10r in post number 465. The black one that sort of reminds me of my old novatac 120p (of course mine didn't have any trits)

Because of the ISP switchover my email address is changed. To send an email please click on PrecisionWorks in my sig line & go to the website. Some of my email is disappearing before I can reply & there was an email this morning that asked IIRC about what rechargeable cells can be run in a SF LX2.

A few years after that, I discovered "email forwarding" so that all the times I've changed providers over the years, I've kept the exact same email address as far as everyone is concerned - bvh@bvh.net. In reality, I have a new email address with the new provider. I pay a cheap annual fee to Register.com to have my domain "maintained" by them. Within their services, they forward everything sent to anything@bvh.net to whatever email address I have with the current provider. It's seamless to me and everyone emailing me. When they get email from me, it's from bvh@bvh.net. My outgoing mail looks like it's from bvh@bvh.net but it not. I make specific entries with the settings area of my real email address. Hope this helps.

I appreciate the information Bob. BENKING offered to help out earlier this evening & I plan to accept his generous offer. On a scale of 1-10 regarding this topic the number 2 or 3 comes to mind. Digitally impaired or something like that. But even the computer challenged can see that things have improved:

BTW Does each ligh require a different setting on the X-ray imager? Those are the neatest images ever.

A little playing around with exposure settings but to be honest I was a little amazed that I could see though titanium so well.

That summarizes the past few weeks at our house. A few of you know that we've had one house guest (who brought her two dogs along) for over a month. The ROTOR project is not unlike building the website - more time than I anticipated & PEU did all the heavy lifting. Warm weather here means quite a few factories are ramping up & that spells break down repairs & emergency calls including Saturday & Sunday. Add in The Electrical Project from Hell & things have been intense.

Good news is that our house guest & one dog moved to their own home. Getting closer to finding a shop to run the ROTOR. Emergency work has finally slowed down. And today I disengaged from the electrical project when the on-site PhD Engineer told me there was no need to disconnect the 480 volt utility supply before we worked inside the switch board - a million dollars wouldn't get me to go back there.

Mike - your light is very close to the front of the line & I'll get to it & the others as soon as possible.

There's every indication that things are getting better

in fact I sent an email to the owner of the company the plant manager and the engineer. Don't know if it will do any good or not. There is no amount of money in the world that would cause me to proceed with that job.

Your V10R looks great Not many of those in circulation with tail trits, forward collar trits, cooling fin trits, etc. You've never mentioned this but it would not surprise me to see a trit bezel in the future.

Speaking of V10R stuff, the detail work on the kuku cooling fin is very well done. Note the slight bevel (or chamfer) at the start of each 1.5mm trit hole:



Don't know where Steve has these run but they do good work.

It's just 480... We test that with our tongue up here in Chicago...

I'll pass along your name if they ask about another electrician Illinois is one of a number of states that does not have a state licensing agency for electricians, although many counties require licenses or proof of an electrician's qualifications. Other areas have no requirements & that results is "wiring" like this:

They look smooth to me in the highly magnified macro image. A better term than "burred" might be "unbroken edge" or sharp edge. I've considered putting this one in the rock tumbler with ceramic media to produce a stone washed finish ... which might look really nice on the entire light.

I work for a GC in Chicago and you would be surprised how many "licensed" and "qualified" contractor's work looks like that picture in multi billion dollar buildings in the City. Its sad that few have pride in their work anymore. Punch in, do the least amount of work as possible to make it through the day and punch out. Then bitch when they dont get there 25 cent raise to bring them up to $46.50 an hour because the company is broke.

Thus the reason I appreciate guys Like you, Steve K, Norcimbus, Mac, etc, etc for all the fine work.

I like the V10R Ti quite a lot & have one clipped onto my every day work clothing. The variable brightness is (to me) one of the best features. On the cooling fin trits some people want 3-4, others want 6, a few at 9 and some at 12. A very nice looking mod.

All the union sparky's around here are top notch. Super clean work, everything done to Code & then some. Since I wire & install exactly as they do neither of us can tell who did what

I believe the Defender & the L versions are identical from a machining standpoint.



To me it looks like the Defender could be converted to the L by swapping out the head & tail ... but I'm not certain. Who knows for sure?

Now the story becomes more complicated

The Fury (aka P2X) is one of the new "sealed at the factory" lights. A member sent in a number of 6PX-Pro bodies that he'd disassembled:



Those lights (and I believe all of the new style lights from SF) are bonded together with a substance that looks like red Loctite. Red (high strength) Loctite starts to soften at 350° F (177° C). If you are willing to figure out how to remove the head/LE from the Fury I'll be happy to bore it. I don't know how he managed to get those lights apart without damage so be careful if you decide to do this.

Also, you'll need to either use a rare earth magnet or melt a small drop of solder onto the positive LE contact when used with flat top cells like AW.

Haven't posted any photos lately but have been machining lights ... they go out more quickly when no images are taken, proofed, cropped, resized & uploaded to the hosting site. But there is a Milky-modded L2 in the lathe as we speak & that one looks like a good photo op.

The Border Collie that we've fostered for the past two months went home last evening.
