Hi all, I did a search and found nothing. Does anyone know the operating voltage of the Surefire KX4 Led head? Trying to find out what battery options I have with out :poof:

Thanks,
Barry

 Their website states that it could be used with 2 or 3 cell Surefire lights. I think that would mean the operation voltage would be 6-9v being that Surefire uses primary lithium cells at 3v each.

This is from their site.

KX4 LED head can be used on any SureFire flashlight equipped with a P60 or P61 emitter; however, for the best match, pair as follows:

  • C2L Hard Anodized – KX4 in Hard Anodized
  • G2L, G2L-FYL, G3L, G3L-FYL and G2ZL in Black – KX4 in Black Hard Anodized
  • 6PL & Z2L in Black – KX4 in Black Anodized
  • G2L, G3L & G2ZL in Tan or OD Green – KX4 in Tan or OD Green
  • G2 in Yellow - KX4 in Yellow

I saw that on their site but didn't know if I could run it with RCR's: 1x17670, 2x16340, 2x17500 or even 3x16340 in either my 6P or 9P.. I have tried to go to using RCR's in everything instead of primaries and keeping primaries an back-up's.
Is the output regulated?

I would say 2 RCRs would work fine because your within the operational voltage. 1 RCR may be to low and may not power the module or it may power it but at slightly reduced output. 3 RCRs may be to much voltage and you risk damaging your module. Hope that helps.

I ran a KX4D with a G3 body on 2x17500 for a while before going back to standard cells. It ran great, but I have too damn many primary cells on hand to bother with the 17500's for now.
